Woodcut, "Alter Mann", signed in pen and ink lower right and inscribed "Handdruck" on the left, signs of age (among other things browned edges, min. creases), sheet approx. 43 x 40 cm, 1908-14 studied at the Dresden Academy with R Sterl, master student of C. Bantzer, from 1920 freelance artist, member of the Dresden Artists' Association, at whose exhibitions he was constantly represented since 1917, 1932 professorship at the Dresden Academy, which was revoked in 1938, combined with a ban on exhibitions, 1945 destruction of a large part of his Werkes, 1947-49 professor at the HfBK in Dresden, after his politically motivated dismissal worked as a freelancer until old age
