Bronze, black patina, large portrait bust of Wilhelm Pieck, rs. inscribed and dated, square base, slightly rubbed, height approx. 46 cm, 1950, Otto Maerker trained as a stonemason with the Austrian sculptor Franz Metzner. The studio located in Berlin-Zehlendorf produced, among other things, sculptures for the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig. During National Socialism, Maerker took on commissions to further develop the capital of the Reich.
