Bronze, brown patina, rope jumper, semi-nude held in the jumping movement, the right leg raised and holding the skipping rope in both hands (rope missing), wearing a long flowing skirt, girdle and sandals, mounted on a flat rectangular plinth, ibid. inscribed " S. Wernekinck", Gießereibez. "Aktiengesellschaft Gladenbeck Berlin", high profile base made of black-grey marble veined with white (slightly damaged), both arms each with a crack, otherwise good condition, figures H approx. 30 cm, total H approx. 42.5 cm, around 1900/10; Wernekinck studied at the Berlin Academy from 1891-99, master student with Reinhold Begas, 1903-11 he exhibited at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and in the Munich Glass Palace, Wernekinck is best known for animal sculptures, portrait busts and designs for porcelain statuettes.
