Meissen manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1st choice, design by Theodor Eichler 1911, model no. B 255, "Dancer Loie Fuller" or Mod. B 256, "Dancer", striding nude figure with a wide cloak dancing, head painted in colour, base and cloak decorated with gold, rest., H approx. 26.5 and 28 cm, pommel swords around 1915; Theodor Eichler (1868-1946) worked as an embosser at the Meissner Manufactory from 1894 and studied sculpture at the Dresden Art Academy with Robert Diez from 1896-1903. From 1903 he created models for the manufactory, including above all extremely elegant female figures in Art Nouveau and Art Deco, but also some children's models and farm worker scenes. In addition to the depiction of the famous veil dancer Loie Fuller (1862-1928), there is another figure of a dancer with sweeping movements of her robes. The dancer inspired a number of artists of her time, including Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Auguste Rodin and Will Bradley.
