Pen and ink drawing on tracing paper, horses on a pasture, a rider in the background, signed lower right, dated 8/12 1855 and with place name Paris, signs of age (among other things stained, severely creased, browned), partially applied to simple backing paper, sheet approx. 17, 5 x 25.5 cm, 1844 attended the drawing class at the Berlin Academy, from 1845 in the studio of the marine painter W. Krause, 1848-49 regular studies at the Berlin Academy with a special focus on depictions of animals, from 1851 traveled to France and Italy, including to the Animal painter Guiseppe Palizzi, 1854 stays in Paris and Fontainebleau, studio in Barbizon, 1870 return to Berlin, from 1875 professor in Weimar and 1882-85 director of the art school there
