Etching and embossing on Hahnemühle, head, rs. Stamp signature Lachnit Nachlass, signs of age (including min. creases, edges min. browned), sheet approx. 57 x 39 cm, 1914-18 apprenticeship as a sign painter, 1920-23 studied at the Dresden Academy, became acquainted with Otto Dix, produces mainly figurative representations and portraits, joined the KPD in 1924, founded the New Group together with Hans Grundig, Otto Griebel and Fritz Skade, 1929 co-founded the Association of Revolutionary Visual Artists (ASSO), 1930 the Dresden group Aktion and was also a member of the New Dresden Secession 1932, 1933 parts of his work were confiscated as degenerate art, Lachnit was arrested and was then only able to work to a limited extent as an artist, from 1947 professor of painting at the HbK Dresden, from 1954 until his death in 1962 freelance in Dresden
