Oil/painting board, "Haus am Berg", monogrammed and dated (19)45 lower left, titled on reverse, framed, approx. 50 x 60 cm, with framing approx. 62 x 72 cm, "Böttcher trained as a self-taught painter and After traveling through France and Brazil, worked as a freelance painter in Berlin. His early works were stylistically committed to late Expressionism. During the war, Böttcher was forbidden to paint, and many of his works were destroyed. After 1945, his formal language continued to change towards abstraction, influenced from informal art."
