Wall relief, turned, carved and stained wood, geometric shapes, consisting of a total of 9 square-shaped individual parts. slight signs of age, dimensions approx. 38 x 38 cm each, commissioned work for art in public space, location was the former Chemnitz polyclinic on Alfred-Neubert-Straße, Hans Brockhage: sculptor and designer, after military service from 1945 apprenticeship as a wood sculptor and turner , then from 1947-52 studied at the HBK Dresden, among others with Mart Stam, development of the swing car (1957 award), 1950/51 student in the seminar of Marianne Brandt, with whom he was friends until her death, 1967-77 lecturer the HS Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, from 1968 first sculptural works in wood and concrete, 1971 first exhibition in the Grassi Museum Leipzig, co-founder of the Chemnitz gallery Oben, 1977 appointment as professor at the FS for applied arts Schneeberg, from 1985 free figurative works and montages , from 2000 publication of several books, including about Marianne Brandt, the art of carving in the Ore Mountains and his own work, numerous exhibitions, including 2015/16 in German en Bundestag. In addition to concrete and bronze, Brockhage primarily used wood as a traditional material from his homeland in the Ore Mountains. The often only roughly hewn trunks and wooden elements from which he created his works of art always reflect the peculiarities of the natural material.
