Etching on handmade paper, self-portrait, signed in lead under the print, dated (19)76 and limited "84/250", with facsimile letters from the artist, edition of the eikon graphic press in VEB Verlag der Kunst Dresden, 1988, plate approx. 38 x 26 cm, sheet approx. 54 x 39 cm. First graphic edition by Horst Janssen in the GDR. 200 copies of the edition went to Arkana Verlag Göttingen. From 1946 studies at the Landeskunstschule Hamburg with Alfred Mahlau, 1952 Lichtwark scholarship, 1965 Edwin-Scharff-Prize of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg together with Paul Wunderlich, other awards including 1968 the Grand Prize of the Venice Biennale, 1975 the Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim, 1992 honorary citizenship of the city of Oldenburg
