Oil/wood, foothills landscape in winter with a view over the village, signed lower left, framed behind glass, framing damaged, approx. 21 x 27 cm, with framing approx. 42 x 48 cm, studied at the Leipzig Art Academy with Bernhard von Neher and Gustav Jäger, then in the study circle of Friedrich Preller d.Ä. in Weimar, 1852-55 stays and studies in Italy (above all Rome), during this time several commissions from the Grand Duke of Weimar, after his return first in Silesia, later in Vienna and again in Leipzig, from 1859 in Loschwitz near Dresden, 1893-1911 drawing teacher and professor at the Dresden Cadet Corps
