Oil/canvas, Saxon low mountain range landscape, in the center a group of pine trees, signed lower right and dated (19)09, also name on the back of the stretcher, old adhesive label "Kunstsalon Chemnitz" with numbering, in the original Art Nouveau frame, approx. 75 x 60 cm , with frame approx. 87.5 cm x 73 cm, this may be the picture "Mountain landscape" shown in the anniversary exhibition "75 years of Kunsthütte Chemnitz 1860 - 1935 - from private ownership", Richard Birnstengel studied from 1901-09 at the Art Academy Dresden with Oskar Zwintscher and Gotthardt Kuehl, where he met his later close friend Georg Gelbke (their later wives were sisters), from 1930 construction of a house and work in the well-known artists' colony in Nidden (East Prussia), destroyed by bombing raids in Dresden in 1945 almost lost his entire life's work
