3 pencil or indelible pencil drawings from the military period in the First World War, soldier portraits or a soldier standing in an open double door, each signed and dated 1916-18 and each rs. inscribed, 2 x in a simple passepartout, sheet approx. 11 x 9 to 18 x 13 cm, each with signs of age, 1900 the family moved from the USA to Berlin, 1908-11 apprenticeship as a lithographer, friendship with Bruno Krauskopf, 1911-13 visit to the Evening school at the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts, lessons there with Emil Orlik, studio community with Wilhelm Kohlhoff, Ernst Fritsch and Willy Jaeckel, 1919-1933 member of the Berlin Secession, after 1933 ban on painting and exhibiting, 1943 destruction of his studio, after 1945 turning to abstract painting
