probably Makonde, Tanzania, ebony, fully plastically worked from a trunk, surface finely naturalistic structured, standing figure of an emaciated, frail woman with a mortar and long pestle, so-called Shetani (mostly evil, disease-causing spirit) on the shoulder, dressed in a waist cloth, signs of age, Base, foot and 1 arm damaged, H approx. 105 cm, Africa, probably first half/middle of the 20th century.
