Wood, carved and painted, standing figure of Saint Urban in full plastic version, in papal robes with miter, holding the attributes book and grapes in the right hand, the bishop’s staff in the left hand (inserted), the right foot resting on two books, flat round base, overall good condition with light patina, total height approx. 64 cm, 20th century, Saint Urban was Pope and Bishop of Rome (222 - 230). The church celebrates May 25th as his memorial day, presumably according to tradition the anniversary of his death. The feast day of Saint Urban coincides with the beginning of the flowering of the vines and is important for the winegrowers. He is the patron saint of winegrowers and vineyards.
