Meissen manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1st choice, model Walter Schott 1897, model no. Q 180, a young lady leaning forward in an antique-style robe, throwing a golden ball, stepped round base with relief band, tree support with ivy tendrils, painted in colour, gold equipped, leaves slightly damaged, partially restored, H approx. 37 cm, pommel swords made of/ at design time; Walter Schott (1861-1938), sculptor and painter, studied at the Art Academy in Berlin and worked there as a professor from 1903. In addition to the Meissner Manufactory, he also supplied KPM Berlin and Rosenthal with figure models; In the present figure, Schott combines typical elements of Art Nouveau sculpture: the sensuous radiance of the female body, the flowing lines of the limbs and robe, and the delicate coloring with the light flesh tones.
