Sculpture, oak wood, striding figure, large object processed with various tools from a massive, upside down branch fork, abstract representation of a striding figure, mounted on stainless steel plate, traces of weathering due to outdoor installation, H approx. 285 cm, the plate approx. 80 x 80 cm, sculptor and designer, after military service and being seriously wounded, from 1945 apprenticeship as a wood sculptor and turner, then from 1947-52 studies at the HbK Dresden, among others with Mart Stam and Marianne Brandt, with whom he was friends until their death, development of the rocking car (awarded in 1957 and 1960), 1952-55 work at the Institute for Applied Arts Berlin, then freelance in Schwarzenberg, 1967-77 lecturer at the HS Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, from 1968 first sculptural works in wood and concrete as well as several years of cooperation with the VEB Kunstgewerbewerkstätten Olbernhau, 1971 first exhibition in the Grassi Museum Leipzig (together with T. Reichardt), 1973 co-founder of the Chemnitz gallery Oben, 1977-89 professor at the FS for applied arts Schneeberg (wood class), from 1985 free figurative works and montages in oak wood, concrete and bronze, 1985-90 cooperation with the Chemnitz artist Gregor Torsten Kozik, 1989-91 sculpture exhibition in the baroque garden of the Kamp-Lintfort monastery (NRW), from 2000 publication of publications on Marianne Brandt, carving art in the Ore Mountains and the autobiographical photo and text volume Handling Wood, 2015/16 personal exhibition in the German Bundestag // Saxon artists
