Watercolor on paper, still life I, summer bouquet in a glass vase, the background is made of overlapping surfaces and can be perceived multidimensionally, signed lower left and right, rs. Probably later titled and dated 1963, WVZ No. 214 / A 95, elaborately framed behind glass in a passe-partout, the corners of the sheet with traces of thumbtacks, sheet approx. 51 x 72 cm, with frame approx. 77 x 99 cm, 1941 student at the art academy in Königsberg with Alfred particles, 1946-50 studies at the HBK Weimar, influenced by Max Pechstein, Erich Heckel and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, among others, from 1950 master student with Otto Herbig, then lecturer for color design and life drawing ibid., from 1954 as a freelance painter and Graphic designer working in his hometown of Gersdorf, from 1960 lecturer at the technical school for applied arts in Schneeberg, 2019 represented in the exhibition Generation in the Shadows in the Neue Sächsische Galerie Chemnitz. In terms of color strength and composition, the present still life is reminiscent of the still lifes of the Chemnitz expressionist Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, whom Tetzner admired and whom he had known personally since 1946 and visited several times. At the time the watercolor was created, Tetzner was working as a lecturer at the technical school for applied arts in Schneeberg (today West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau - Faculty for Applied Arts Schneeberg). // GDR art, Saxon artists, late expressionism
