Pencil drawing, Hintersee, Bavarian torrent, rocky river bed, surrounded by trees, monogrammed KH lower right, titled and dated 26.7.(18)73, large beautifully designed sheet with high-contrast composition, framed behind glass in a gilded profiled bar (min. dam. ), sheet section approx. 42 x 67 cm, with frame approx. 53 x 77 cm, training with Friedrich Preller, 1871-73 studies at the Princely Free Drawing School in Weimar, then study trips to Rügen, Munich and to the Hintersee near Berchtesgaden, 1875/76 in Italy, then mainly active in Werder, his works show a close connection to nature and were mostly created on site, not in the studio, lively contact with the artists of the Barbizon School, 1898 co-founder of the Berlin Secession, among others together with Max Liebermann
