Meissen, sword mark, 1st choice, model by Jacob Ungerer 1901-04, model no. T 62, country girl with guard dog, painted in colour, round base with gold rim, foliage extremely slightly restored, H approx. 25 cm, molding from the original period around/after 1904. The sculptor Jacob Ungerer (1840-1920), creator of the Mende fountain in Leipzig, studied at the Art Academy in Munich and received a professorship there in 1890. Between 1880 and 1903, the Meissner manufactory acquired several models from his hand, the early ones still committed to the rococo style, but the later ones testify to the clarity and soulfulness of Art Nouveau.
