Meissen, crossed swords mark, around 1740/50, so-called blue smooth plate, smooth edge, in underglaze blue onion pattern decor, edge and base ring damaged, D approx. 24 cm. The plate comes from the early days of onion pattern production in Meissen. From the beginning of Count Marcolini's directorship at the manufactory in 1774, the onion pattern decoration began to be standardized. Before 1774, every blue painter had more or less his own signature when it came to the fine design of the decor. In the first three blue decors that the manufactory brought onto the market from 1730, the onion pattern decor was called blue smooth, since smooth plate edges were always used. The surface of the straw model, which was also blue, was ribbed, while the rim of the German flower was curved.
