Lithograph on handmade paper, female head, from the heads portfolio, printer's copy for the lithographer Horst Arloth, signed in lead on the lower edge, dated 1971 and inscribed, see Mehnert No. 173-177, slight signs of age (among other things, the sheet is slightly wavy) , floating in passe-partout and framed behind glass, sheet approx. 59 x 42 cm, with frame approx. 83 x 63 cm, poet, painter and graphic artist, actually Gerhard Ströch, grew up in Altenburg in Thuringia, 1948-50 studied at the HS for architecture and fine arts in Weimar with Hans Hoffmann-Lederer and in the lithography workshop of Hans Arloth, he draws his inspiration from events he has personally experienced such as war experiences and from literature, art and intellectual history from ancient mythology to Pablo Picasso and Johannes Bobrowski, 1952 first solo exhibition in the Springer Gallery in West Berlin, supported in the GDR by Bernhard Heisig and Willi Sitte, 1977 participation in documenta 6 in Kassel, from 1970 member of de r Academy of Arts of the GDR and the Institute for Modern Art in Nuremberg // Saxon Artists, GDR Art
