Manufacturer: Philipp Rosenthal, Bahnhof-Selb, design: Theodor Kärner, white porcelain, resting hind, artist's signature on the bottom, H approx. 24 cm, L approx. 26 cm, 1922. The porcelain sculptor and animal sculptor Th. Kärner (1864-1966) studied after training at the Hutschenreuther company at the Munich School of Applied Arts. From 1905-18 he worked as a designer at the Nymphenburg Manufactory, then at Rosenthal in Selb. Here he created a large number of naturalistic animal figures, especially in the 1930s.
