War theory writing in French, richly illustrated with folding maps, by the so-called "Marshal of Saxony": "NOUVELLES REVERIES OU NOTES ET COMMENTAIRES SUR LES PARTIES SUBLIMES DE L´ART DE LA GUERRE DE MAURICE COMTE DE SAXE, MARECHAL-GENERAL DES ARMEES... ", 2nd part, published in Berlin and Potsdam in 1763, half-leather binding, spine label supplemented, 8°, signs of age and wear (among other things, the binding is rubbed, some annotations in pen by an old hand, the lower right corner has water marks, some pages with glue residue like 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, but a nice, usable copy), the son of Augustus the Strong was a commander and war theorist in the French service, Duke of Courland (1726 - 1729) and one of the seven general marshals from France.
