Meissen manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1st choice, swan-handled cup with matching saucer, shaded in green vine leaf decoration, rim slightly damaged, cup height approx. 7 cm, second quarter of the 19th century of chrome oxide green as a decorative colour, which could be applied under the glaze in a similar way to cobalt blue and thus represented a durable decorative form that could be produced inexpensively. Unlike the underglaze blue, the chromium oxide green could only be applied over a large area, so that fewer nuances are possible in the depiction. In the "Full green wine wreath" decor, executed from 1817/18, a three-dimensional effect could only be achieved through the leaf veins applied in a darker tone and the rarely executed shading of the vine leaves.
