Oil/cardboard, floral still life, titled on the reverse: "Weisse Lilien", numbered "3686" and "M. Schrag, Chemnitz" inscribed, signed and dated upper right (19)42, framed, approx. 66 x 49 cm, 1898- 1904 studies at the painting school for women in Dresden with R. Sterl, W. Ritter, A. Pepino and W. Claudius. The first exhibitions in Chemnitz, Schrag's hometown since 1884, followed and drew the attention of doctor and collector A. Thiele to her talent, who encouraged her from then on. 1907 member of the Chemnitz artists' group. 1908 student at the painting school in Munich with A. Weisgerber. For financial support, she also ran her own painting school. In the 1930s her works were confiscated from public collections as "degenerate art". Despite being almost completely blind, she was artistically active until the end of her life.
