Meissen Manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1st choice, model by Otto Jarl 1903, "Eisbär, klein", discreetly colored equipped, model no. D 182, H approx. 10.5 cm, L approx. 24 cm, 1968. The Swedish-born sculptor Otto Jarl (1856-1915) studied in Stockholm and Vienna. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Meissen manufactory took over a number of animal and hunter figures from his hand, with the polar bear, made in two sizes, enjoying great popularity.
