Meissen Manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1 underline, model by Theodor Eichler 1911, nude dancer with wide cape, richly painted in gold, head painted in colour, oval base decorated in blue and gold, model no. B 256, tip of the left foot slightly damaged, gilding slightly rubbed in places, otherwise original good condition, Pfeiffer period 1924-34. Theodor Eichler (1868-1946) worked as an embosser at the Meissner Manufactory from 1894 and studied sculpture at the Dresden Art Academy with Robert Diez from 1896-1903. From 1903 he created models for the manufactory, including above all extremely elegant female figures in Art Nouveau and Art Deco, but also some children's models and farm worker scenes. In addition to the nude dancer with a wide cape, there is another figure (no. B 255, cf. cat. no. 4107) that shows the famous veil dancer Loie Fuller. In the present figure, the contrast between the almost unpainted female body and the lavishly gold-decorated coat is captivating.
