November 1978, with a double self-portrait in front of the house in Oldenburg where Janssen spent his childhood, behind glass in the frame, creased (probably traces of folding), sheet approx. 82 x 57 cm, with frame approx. 94 x 63 cm, studying from 1946 at the Landeskunstschule in Hamburg with Alfred Mahlau, 1952 Hamburg Lichtwark scholarship, 1965 Edwin Scharff Prize of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg together with Paul Wunderlich, other awards including 1968 Grand Prize of the XXXIV. Venice Biennale, 1975 Schiller Prize from the city of Mannheim, 1992 Oldenburg awarded Janssen honorary citizenship
