Charcoal and tempera on cardboard, construction of a circus tent, acrobats lifting the mast, signed lower right, verso inscription Rudi Gruner, corners attached behind cardboard, extensively inscribed in lead on the lower edge, signs of age (among other things browned), sheet approx. 33, 5 x 45 cm, Rudi Gruner belongs to the so-called lost generation of expressive realists, 1939 exhibition in the Chemnitz Kunsthütte with Martha Schrag, Heinrich Brenner, Bruno Ziegler and Marianne Brandt, among others, freelance after 1945, close contact with the Chemnitz artist group, illustrated for the Reclam-Verlag, 1984 awarded the Hans Grundig Medal
