Woodcut, titled Gnus under the print on the left, signed and dated in lead on the right (19)76, marked as an original woodcut, framed behind glass in a wooden strip, verso stamp Fritz Knauf Stollberg [... ], slight signs of age (among other things slightly browned, am Edge slightly discolored, slightly creased), sheet section approx. 41.5 x 58.5 cm, with frame approx. 44 x 61 cm, 1941 student at the art academy in Königsberg with Alfred particles, 1946-50 studies at the HBK Weimar, influenced by Max Pechstein, Erich Heckel and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, from 1950 master student with Otto Herbig, then lecturer for color design and life drawing ibid., from 1954 as a freelance painter and graphic artist in his hometown of Gersdorf, from 1960 lecturer at the technical school for applied art in Schneeberg, 1999 Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for his life's work and numerous other honors and awards
