Design: Richard Riemerschmid, design no. 81.8 TUM , manufactured by Dresdner Werkstätten, dark stained oak, slender frame with 2 cross braces, 2 drawers in the high frame, compartments in the upper drawer and fold-out pin cushion, cover plate with bevelled corners, signs of age and wear, approx. 75 x 60 x 43 .5 cm, The sewing table comes from the Living Room Furnishings II series from 1905. It was expanded into a women's living room in 1907/08. Initially made of mahogany, this was later also available in oak. Richard Riemerschmid (1868-1957) was a founding member of the Deutscher Werkbund (1907) and its chairman from 1921-26. From 1913 to 1924 he was director of the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. His designs are characterized by clear lines and elegant simplicity.
