Oil/hardboard, still life with spade and a destroyed, framed self-portrait, the work addresses the transience and the wartime experience of the destruction of one’s own paintings, signed and dated 1984 lower left, slight signs of age, in green wood frame (best.), approx. 61 x 80 cm, with frame approx. 70 x 89 cm, the artist received drawing lessons from Simonson Castelli and Georg Oehme in Dresden, 1926-30 studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Richard Müller, Hermann Dittrich, Ferdinand Dorsch and Max Feldbauer, 1945 loss of a large part of the work through war destruction, committed to Dresden late impressionism
