Oil on canvas, "Still life with painting utensils", signed lower right, estate label on the reverse, signed and dated 1919, plain grooved wooden strip, c. 41 x 60.5 cm, with frame c. 48.5 x 68.5 cm, soiled, Hanns Oehme studied at the Dresden Art Academy from 1918 to 1923, first with Ferdinand Dorsch and finally as a master student with Richard Dreher. In 1929 Oehme exhibited in the Dresden Artists' Association, nine years later he was already exhibiting more than 50 paintings in the exhibition of the Saxon Artists' Association represented, drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1939
