Gouache on firm paper, "Aktstudie, Modell: Olympia", monogrammed on the reverse, dated 1961 and inscribed, WVZ No. 1239 E, in the passe-partout, sheet approx. 24 x 32 cm, admitted to Switzerland in 1916 as a war invalid, where he began as a painter in the circle of artists from Ascona, Ticino, stayed in Switzerland until 1925, studied at the Academy in Kassel, moved to Berlin in 1926 and learned from A. Segall in Paris in 1929. In 1939 he moved to Usedom, where he worked together with Otto Manigk, Herbert Wegehaupt and Karen Schacht formed the "Usedom School of Painting", the National Socialists removed his works from the museums, in 1964 he became a professor and in 1969 a member of the GDR Academy of Arts
