Pen and ink drawing on handmade paper, two men in conversation in front of a wide mountain landscape, signed lower right, rs. inscribed, behind passe-partout, signs of age (among other things, traces of attachment, margin min. creased and browned), sheet approx. 34 x 65 cm, after a carpentry apprenticeship attended a drawing school in Mannheim, 1873 worked with a Munich sculptor, from 1875 studied at the Munich Academy among others with Wilhelm von Diez and Ludwig von Löfftz, co-founder of the Munich Secession, 1906-1924 professor for drawing and monumental painting at the Munich Academy, created important wall and monumental paintings, especially for churches in southern Germany
