Monumental sculpture, oak wood, o. T., wooden stele processed with various tools, mounted on a three-sided solid iron base, height approx. 220 cm, the sculpture was created on the occasion of the Bermsgrün wood symposium in 1986, even then Brockhage wanted the sculpture to be installed later the aging process of the wood surface is treated with bone glue and black pigment, this was done by the artist himself in the early 1990s, cf.: "H. Brockhage, Handling Wood, 2004", sculptor and designer, after military service from 1945 apprenticeship as a wood sculptor and wood turner, then from 1947-52 studied at the HBK Dresden, among others with Mart Stam, development of the swing wagon (1957 award), 1950/51 student in the seminar of Marianne Brandt, with whom he was friends until her death, 1967-77 Lecturer at the HS Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, from 1968 first sculptural works in wood and concrete, 1971 first exhibition in the Grassi Museum Leipzig, co-author efounder of the Chemnitz gallery Oben, 1977 appointed professor at the School of Applied Arts Schneeberg, from 1985 free-figure works and montages, from 2000 publication of several books, among others about Marianne Brandt, wood carving in the Ore Mountains and his own work, numerous exhibitions, including 2015/ 16 in the German Bundestag. In addition to concrete and bronze, Brockhage primarily used wood as a traditional material from his homeland in the Ore Mountains. The often only roughly hewn trunks from which he created his works of art always reflect the peculiarities of the natural material.
