Bronze, brown-black patina, "Jürgen Hingsen", the sportsman kneeling with his arms raised in a victory pose, Ex. 6/12, inscribed and dated "Arno Breker 83" on the underside of the left lower leg, foundry mark "Fondeur HSD", H approx 53 cm, Arno Breker is considered one of the most important sculptors of the classical tradition in the 20th century, in the great sculpting tradition of French influence he stands alongside Auguste Rodin, Charles Despiau and Aristide Maillol, important contemporaries have paid tribute to Breker (among others Jean Cocteau, 1928: "Arno Breker is the most vital among the sculptors of the time and the greatest hope for the future" cf.
