Design: Richard Riemerschmid, execution: Dresden workshops, model no. 212.10, oak, slender conical square legs, trapezoidal seat upholstered with wickerwork and covered with light brown leather, vertical fine strips in the sloping backrest, shoulder board chamfered at an angle at the top and sides, high curved armrests, overall good condition, seat H approx. 45 cm, backrest height approx. 91 cm, around 1908. The chair was part of a study from 1908 and impresses with its simple yet very elegant design. Originally it was made with wickerwork, from 1912 also with upholstery. Richard Riemerschmid (1868-1957) was a founding member of the Deutscher Werkbund (1907) and its chairman from 1921-26. From 1913 to 1924 he was director of the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. He is one of the outstanding German designers of his time.
