Manufacturer: Philipp Rosenthal, Selb (art department mark), black grouse during courtship, round base with natural overlay, colored underglaze decor, model by Fritz Heidenreich, model no. 1987, H approx. 14 cm, 1930s/40s. The modeler and sculptor Fritz Heidenreich (1895-1966) attended the porcelain school in Selb as a master student of Fritz Klee. Over the long period from 1919 to 1960 he worked as a modeller for the Rosenthal art department, mainly making animal figures.
