Meissen manufactory, swords underglaze blue, 1st choice, model by Johann Joachim Kaendler 1734, revised by Ernst August Leuteritz 1854, model no. B 144 / 76023, larger than life depiction of a crowing rooster standing on a bundle of corn, naturalistic colored painting, from the series of large animal figures, very nicely preserved, H approx. 76 cm, after 1948. The Paduan rooster was designed by JJ Kaendler in the early 1730s designed for the furnishing of the Japanese Palace in Dresden. The extremely difficult to produce and rare large animal sculpture was artistically revised by Ernst August Leuteritz in the second half of the 19th century.
